This Friday students will be taking our Customary Measurement assessment. This assessment will be covering measuring using inches, feet, and yards. Students will also have to complete one and two-step word problems that relate to measuring. Remind your kiddo to be careful and to answer the whole question. Students will be expected to use bar models to show their work on word problems. Here is a reminder of what bar models are and what they look like. The kids have been practicing them as morning work for about a month now, so many of them can almost do it in their sleep. However, if they need extra help we have been using an iPad app called: Thinking Blocks. There's lots of variations of this app, but this app is specifically focused on bar models at different levels. The videos below are super handy at explaining a few of the concepts. Be sure to ask your kiddo about comparing bar models, as well.
If you look on our STEM challenge page we have updated STEM photos which are pretty neat. I also have a couple photos below that I've been hanging on to for awhile and thought I'd share. Thanks for all you do!
