Some families have been asking me about next year, and I wanted to give you all an update. I will not be returning to QAE next year. I have accepted a Fifth Grade position at K-8 STEM at Boren. I decided on the change due to personal reasons. This was not an easy or fun decision, but I am grateful for the time that I had here. I want to thank everyone who has been super supportive this year. I could not have done my job without you. QAE is truly a unique place and I hope I can take the things I've learned here and use them well into the future. Please let me know if you need anything from me or if you ever need an extra babysitter. ;) I love all of your kids so much and have been so blessed to have them in my class this year.
Tons of things are happening next week. We are going to begin publishing our whale reports next week, so be on the look out. I will be sending home a whale report checklist come next week, so in case your kiddo needs some extra work time you are aware of what is expected.
Wednesday we will be taking our graphing assessment. I sent home a packet of work to complete/ edit over the weekend/ week. This packet is due Wednesday, day of the test. The kids have worked through most of it independently during class time. However, some students weren't able to finish, or they have a few mistakes they can correct. We will be reviewing this material in class, however the packet is definitely helpful review for next week's test. Thursday is our super cool field trip to the IMAX. Emails will be going out to chaperones next week. Friday we will be taking the Second Grade Summative Assessment. This assessment is required by the district and does not count for or against the kids. It's just so the district has a gauge of how second graders are doing in all of Seattle. Don't forget to sign-up for Water 1st! Thanks again for all you do. - Lauren Martin I can't believe how blessed I am to have such amazing students and families! Thank you so much for the gift cards, the sweet treats, and the beautiful flowers! I am always excited to eat and be surrounded by beautiful things. This school is one in a million for how they treat teachers.
