This past Friday we had a new exciting activity: buddy reading with Mrs. Cryan Leary’s class. Many of the kids were confused that we were being paired up with kindergartners. They didn’t realize that this year they are the “big” kids. Mrs. Cryan Leary was kind enough to show me how buddy reading operates at Queen Anne, so this was a new experience for me as well. I believe all of the kiddos enjoyed themselves immensely. It’s pretty neat growing up.
We are up and running officially with our brand-new (hopefully for the rest of the year) schedule. Be sure to look on our schedule page to see what our week looks like. Many of you will notice that we do not have specials on Mondays. This is due to the Music teacher being unavailable in the morning and the specials teachers (like Mr. R and Mrs. Amsel) being made available for Project Based Learning support. Jonathon really enjoyed reading to a kindergartener, but also admitted he was afraid to make some mistakes while reading. He was also wondering if the 5th graders were going to read to them?! ( the second graders) Thanks for the post!

Unfortunately I don't believe we will have that opportunity this year. The way the classes matched up, and with only one 5th grade class and only two 4th grades, we were aligned best with kindergartners.

After school that day, Bijou told me that she had good news and bad news. The good news was that she'd met her reading buddy. The bad news was that Ms. Martin's class was not paired up with Ms. Yokoyama's class. Bijou still loves her Kindergarten teacher. :)
